Guys and Girls

I have been having problems with my 1998 225hp Vmax ox66 with fuel injection. When I am driving across the lake in high speeds the motor seems to loose power. When I lift my foot off my hot foot and then press down again it goes fast again. This happens over and over. The RPM stay the same but speed slows down. What could be causing this?

sounds like a clogged fuel injector, or could be a fuel pump.

Perhaps OPTI will jump in here and give his professional opinion.

Could be the fuel injectors need cleaning as mentioned or water in the fuel.

Ok, Being an EFI engine, you loose an injector, you loose a cyclinder. This meaning, if an injector (the injector is like it's own little electric fuel pump) quits, you loose the fuel/oil supply going into the engine. After just a few seconds of that cylinder firing, and you don't regain that injector, it can be very costly repairs.

If you don't have the equipment of working on and diagnosing a computer driven fuel injected motor, just take it in to a mechanic and pay them to diagnose the problem, then evaluate what you want to do.

You screw around with possible bad injectors, and you can be eating a powerhead in a hurry.

Hopefully it is just a pack or ignition problem. But without the equipment to run the diagnostics, you are shooting in the dark on your own almost.
