Well got one of my Falcon Buccoo's broke off at the tip a few weeks ago (user error, not rod error). So I need a replacement. It was a 7ft MH that I used for Texas rig

I'll probably just get the exact rod again, but I'm just wondering if there's any others out there I should try out around that same price point? Going to make a run to Cableas and Academy in a few hours. Talking about a casting rod by the way

I'm not going into this rod vs another brand that choice is up to you.

You have a few hours left on a fathers day sale online at landbigfish.com that included 30% off a couple of styles of St. Croix rods and 20% off Dobyns. Additionally, July 4th usually brings about the 15% off sales (or more) at many other retailers. At Tackle Warehouse I like to look in the "Clearance Used Items " section to get the offered discount and get then get the holiday sale discount as well. Every rod I've purchased this way is in at least "like new" condition and is a return that someone opened and decided they didn't want it. Its a way to get a high end rod at a good discount.

You may want to look at the Falcon Lowrider. They are only $15-$20 more that Buccoo's.

Lots of $100 rods these days all very similar to me. What ever you do, don't upgrade to NRX or something along those lines unless you want to invest a bunch of money upgrading all of your rods. I used to be fine with the less expensive rods, I upgraded one just to see what the fuss was all about and it has cost me big time...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I have used Lowriders for many years and tried one of the Buccoo's because I won it in a drawing and always trying to save a little money but to be honest with you I shattered it to pieces on a hookset in some heavy cover on Tawakoni on a bass so turned it in and got another Lowrider. I have bought a few other Expert series rods that are more expensive and really like them but you can never go wrong with a Lowrider.

I feel your pain. Put one NRX in the rod locker and they multiply like rabbits

I had already went and got Buccoo before these other 7 replies showed up.. LOL. Academy had 20% of all rods and reels. Got me the exact Buccoo I broke for $79.99

Where can I find a Lowrider? I went two Academy's and Cabelas and the only Falcon's I could find were the Buccoo, HD, and Coastal XG.

I tried a Fury series Dobyns 7' MH. Hated it. Just didn't feel right

Totally get it! I have saltwater trout rods that are in the $350+ range. Worth every penny. I don't get to bass fish as much as I'd like due to my location from decent lakes so I'm cool with the sub $100 rods

I had my Buccoo in my hand sticking up in the air, nephew on the front deck came back and whacked the [censored] out of my rod and smooth broke the tip off. Up at Houston County a few weeks ago

I didn't get too upset and still am not because I caught my 10.5 on that trip and my nephew that deleted my rod tip for me found a whole new level of love for fishing on that trip, and I didn't want to degrade that for him. Told him it's cool, [censored] happens, and got a replacement

Southwest Parts usually has a good selection of Falcon rods and luckily for me I work right down the street from them.

703 leaves a lot to be desired. The 733 is night and day better. Hard to beat a fury or a lowrider for the price point
