hey all!

over this weekend, I spent a lot of time fly fishing and getting more experience behind my rod before my upcoming trip to Canada for salmon fishing!

I fished an arm of panther creek twice- once for about 50 minutes (which I posted earlier) where I caught a grand total of two fish, and the second was yesterday where I explored much deeper (4-mile wade to and from) and I caught a total of 5 fish. (Ironically, I didn't see any snakes the first round, but after TexasFlycaster mentioned them, I saw 3 the second day). Today, I went to the pond across the street from my house. I think it's quite nice having so much fishable water right outside my door. I caught all my fish on a weighted san juan worm, and then at the pond, I decided to experiment with a blue-winged olive wet fly and a parachute Adams since it was a tried and true place for sunfish. I got three on the BWO and only a couple of half-hearted strikes on the PA. Even these little sunfish fight so hard on my five weight, I cant imagine what those 15-25lb King salmon will do on the 8wt!

You know ... there's a subcult of "micro fly fishing" that is pretty interesting. It's about seeing how small a fish can be caught on a fly. Cool stuff. Tons of info on the Google.

Yeah, danial: Texasflycaster, the Snake Whisperer! I didn't know there were creeks like that near D/FW. Cool pics. IslandJim

But you want to step down to a 1 weight or less, or a Tenkara rod, for that game.
