We don't have cows and it is muddy year round. i have read about the gypsym or alum test. I will have to try it and see if it works. its about 1/2 full in the picture: Any ducks? Have shotgun will travel? Looks like Mallard heaven in late season.

Call the state---they will hook you up with contacts. We just finished getting ours done. We put 100 cats in our pond and 200-300 minnows. We will follow up that in a month with 100 perch and another 200-300 minnows. At opposite ends of the pond--we put a couple huge cedar bushes. This will give them cover to hide and lay eggs. You might also ask about getting a few turtles. They can help you build a good ecosystem for the long term health of the pond. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/management/hatcheries/
