I have never been on this lake and curious if there are marked boat lanes. If not, does anyone have some marked that you would be willing to share. Not looking to destroy a lower unit!

They call them pole runs. They are telephone pole that are driven in the lake with white sign that have letters on them. they run all through the lake. Be sure to drive next to the poles and on the same side as the signs are on.. and it won't be very deep even on the pole runs. Like 3 to 4 feet deep. I don't know if there is a map of them but I know I have seen pole runs A through Z. That is one of the most beautifull lake in Texas. We try to go at least once a year for the bream spawn. Be sure to run down Pole run A. I was told by the locals that is what they call the goverment ditch and where they would run goods up to Jefferson for trade on paddle boats. Good Luck

Good Luck Awesome, that is actually what I am wanting to do. They apparently have some nice red ear. I am not finding a map for my SD card yet, but I did locate a Game Warden that said he would take me out, just not till the end of the month. Would like to have something mapped out for security "my personal MIND security". I appreciate the response and if you find a link to a card or something, please feel free to message me or post a link in here. Again, thank you!

Yes pole runs, same as the upper end on pines. Have a good gps/map on your electronic system if you launch at the state park, it’s on the bayou, not the lake, and it’s easy to get turned around when you get in to the upper lake (which is really just a cypress swamp) cool place though.

You will have a blast on that lake. Realize that there are places you may struggle to get a signal; it's pretty remote. Watch out for gators.

Back in the 70's and 80's I fished Caddo for Red Ears and Bluegill. I'd get a bucket of crickets, my cane pole, and go looking. When they are bedding you can smell them. Once you smell them you start drowning your cricket until you find the bed. Then you fill the ice chest. It was a lot of fun. Just be careful and don't get lost.

There is a little town on Caddo lake called "Uncertain" & it`s real easy to become uncertain of your whereabouts on this, the only natural lake in Texas! so....plz be careful!

We always put in at Johnsons Ranch in Uncertain. They sold paper maps. So you can tell how long it's been since I've been to Caddo, ha. Before GPS it was definitely easy to get turnaround on that lake.

Before GPS it was definitely easy to get turnaround on that lake. I still have my paper map from way back when. I am old enough to remember when the airport at the Flying Fish Lodge was operational. Saw lots of rich folks fly in from Dallas to fish Caddo. We put in at the Flying Fish Boat Ramp across from the airport and up lake from Johnsons. Good memories.

Caddo is an awesome lake! I have not had any issues running the visible boat lanes following the markers. Just keep the next pole in site and head for it. There are some spots that will scare you, but it is fun and beautiful! If you are really worried about it just stay on or close to the A and C lanes. Those are the largest and cleanest... Last year I took my drone out with me and flew it up at the Clinton Lake area... I would take you out and around the lake, but it would be the end of the month for me as well. All I need is a good excuse to go out there! Clinton Lake Drone Video
