Good luck to you sir ! That has been the biggest caveat for us as PK is labeled as our home lake ! Hit and miss for sure. Some years easy, as long as the lake is at pool. Other years with big deficit with water and bait. There will be someone chime in and dispel my thoughts as they live on the lake or have a generous pipeline of intel from other guides and or BB fishermen !

As for the recreational angler like myself and a host of others . ??????? Wish I could help.

There is an ongoing fish dying event on the North side of the lake that I've noticed for the past month. I've seen dead fish from North D&D on North, all varieties and gobs of shad. Haven't noticed any dead fish on the South side of the lake. I called in a report to TP&W but have not seen any results of the phone report. Maybe the influx of incoming river water will shorten the event.

We find them all most every week.
Examine the nets your using.
If small shad is what you want the throw a small mesh net.
1. Throw a 7' foot high quality net.
2. Use a taped net in over 7' water.
3. Livescope is a big asset when catching shad. You can see the net and save it from a tree. You can see the shad.
4.Night time is the right time.
Lots of you tube stuff on taped nets, mesh size, net weights.

Most days you will have to catch your bait in the river or North end then haul it to the stripers down South.

There you have it from one that knows. A lot of work, however for some of the young pups, not so much !

Randy, you always know where the shad are. I am bringing the lure box next week as I can't find bait down lake. Plus, I wear myself out throwing that net since I don't have those young pups.

Night may help. I watched a bunch of perch I was trying to catch flee from my net as I tossed it over them. I didn't get a one.

Common occurrence when tossing taped net in water less than ten feet !

Sounds like bait can be a struggle at PK. Anyone had decent luck on lures this time of year? I know itโ€™s primarily a live shad bite now.

Go into Cedar Creek and hit the windy side. Of course watch for the birds, they will show you.

Have you found fishing size shad as in 4 to 5 inch Threads in that area lately ? Cedar Creek is huge, is the suggestion " look for the White or Blue Herons "!
