Nice! Those shorts are almost as short as the tail on that fish.

Looks like someone "modified" that fish in the past

In the same event about 20 years ago a lady weighed a 3.50 Under. Biggest one I know of at Fork

I heard that they said it was taken off by a predator. Been like that a long time

The biggest fish I ever caught on the Red River was during a practice day and was a 3.5 lber that had absolutely no tail at all. This fish had not a single spine coming out of the body where the webbing would grow between to form a tail. It swam away just like a regular fish. That fish had waaaaay less of a tail than the one in that picture. I figured that it was natural because I don't think anybody would be trimming tails on the Red River.

Anyhow, the point of that is that it does happen. Congrats to that Angler and hope he won the boat.

PS - If he won, I'll bet that poly got pretty specific as regards to that winning fish.

He did win. The game wardens were called from the water and they explained the fish and sent a picture. They were told to bring it in and would be checked out. There was no signs that it was a recent injury or altercation. Basically said if it looked like a recent injury it would have been a problem whether it was caught that way or not, the anglers would have been questioned a little harder I guess. Since the fish was completely healed up and caught that way it is a legal fish.

Man how happy would you be to catch that fish?! But then how pissed would you be to catch it when it was 10-11 lbs and 23 inches?! roflmao

So that’s how you make em an “Under”?😂 And the 1980’s NBA players want their uniform shorts back! Funny stuff and odd fish for sure. Congrats on the win. (Fishing is fun regardless but tournaments on slot lakes is dumb IMHO) [Linked Image]

Hard to believe that fish can swim good enough to catch enough food to stay alive.
