So I broke down and purchased the I-pilot and i don't want to use the handheld remote. I didn't even hook up the ethernet cable, so when i go out on the water what do i need to do for the unit to be able to be used on anchor?

You have to first get on the water and calibrate the TM. You will use the remote to do this. You basically go in a circle three times and the GPS is calibrated and you are good to go. Go download the users manual and keep it on your Ipad or computer for reference. The start up guide will guide you through that.

I watched some YouTube videos on it last night and the options on the remote are very impressive. Going to order the dongle today to connect to the Helix.

I'm pretty sure you have to have the Ipilot link version to connect to the humminbird. I don't think the regular Ipilot model will work. It only works with the remote...
