Dave is a scam. He has figured out how to get rich by telling people common sense stuff. That’s not a scam, it’s actually quite genius. No material to buy or produce, just tell people something that their parents never did.

Dave is a scam. He has figured out how to get rich by telling people common sense stuff. Call it what you want but I started following Dave Ramsey's plan in 2006, got out of debt and started acquiring some wealth. His advise has done me well.

Dave is a scam. He has figured out how to get rich by telling people common sense stuff. He isn’t a scam- he straight up tells you his advice is common sense and all of his advice is free. You can literally listen to him and work a system that will make you debt free and wealthy.

Told him I wouldn't GIVE him money, but I will give you the keys to find your own financial peace. Here's your keys, YOU have to learn to drive this for yourself. I would have just gotten him a handle and had him join us here in the TFF OT. We have more wisdom than Dave Ramsey…and on all kinds of stuff, not just how to get rich. Medical, home remodeling, animal husbandry and/or ways of love, septic systems, music, engines, drugs, cooking…etc., it’s a pretty exhaustive list.

If you have never been to a Dave Ramsey live event you need to consider it, I have been to 5-6 and enjoyed every one of them. JMO

I used to listen to his show years ago, made me feel better about the debt I had, compared to most of the callers.
I loved it, when some clown called up and tried to convince Dave that, “if he bought a boat, he could save money by feeding the family fish”. Dave ripped the guy up and down, it was fantastic.
My brother in laws mother, is a “ELP” in real estate for Dave, she has to pay him a ton of money for that.

Probably should have said brilliant. He figured out that people in debt spend money on stupid stuff they don’t need and started charging them for stuff they don’t need. I’ll charge half of what Dave does and say “don’t spend more than you make.” “You have a spending problem, not an earning problem.” “Live within your means.” “Start an emergency fund.” Did I miss anything? The advice he gives isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s so elementary that pretty much everyone should already know it.

I grew up in a household with parents that just flat-out NEVER discussed finances with or in front of us kids. The good side, we were dirt poor but we didn't really know it. The bad side, I had ZERO clue how important saving money, having an emergency fund, staying away from high-interest products, etc. really was until I was already in a hole. Not in deep, just a hole. I feel like people have two very simple choices when they realize they're in a hole. 1. They continue the lifestyle and kick the can down the road like everyone else until it buries them. (This would have been me if not for my wife finding out about the Ramsey baby steps.) 2. They make a decision to completely change their way of living, fix the problem, and make sure they never get back in that hole again. Heck, we are all told every single day, in one way or another, that debt isn't a bad thing and it is normal. Credit cards, loans for absolutely anything that can be stretched out until you're 119 years old, etc. It took someone like Dave telling me, "Wake up you idiot." for me to change and the very small amount of money I put in his pocket changed my life, my wife's life, my kid's lives, and hopefully my grandkid's lives. It was worth it. I am now 32 years old with zero student loan debt, zero credit card debt, drive a 2021 F-150 I owe nothing on, and more money in savings than I ever could have imagined. All while still living a pretty exciting life. Wedding in Montana, paid for vacation to Broken Bow for my entire family. The list goes on. Except we chose to do it a different way than the majority of people today. And I can honestly say, if it wasn't for the extremely simple, common-sense program Dave chose to sell, none of it would have ever happened. All I'm getting at is, not everyone sees through the BS of marketing or can shake the "need" to live a certain lifestyle and they also may have never had anyone telling them that's not OK. Dave has figured out a way to illustrate very simple steps to snap a lot of people out of it and one of those people was me. Sorry for the rant, I am just one of the people that the program impacted tremendously.

You can judge a person by looking at how many benefitted from him. A scammer does not benefit many people. It sounds like Dave gives good basic advice so I would not call him a scammer.
This time share issue may be an exception. The optics are very bad but you can't argue that he has made a whole lot of people happy over the years.
