I fished Palestine the past two days at the old road bed at Hwy 155. Both days proved about the same. The fish are there. Hybrids and Sandbass. I used live shad both days and caught fish non stop until I was out of shad. I didn't keep any fish as I really just enjoy the fight. Other boaters were catching fish too. From minnows to cut bait to shrimp! Lots of undersized Sunshine bass and a lot right at the 18" to 19" mark. The big ones are hit or miss. Over both days fishing I only caught 2 over 6lbs but a lot in the 4 to 5.5 lb range. With shad the wait was never long. Drop it down and BAM! I would switch up to using a jig and catch them too but mostly unders and sandies. Shad spawn is going strong right at day break. There is some schooling activity at both ends of Hwy 155 and even in the middle around daybreak. Lake conditions have been wonderful in the morning. Light winds and cool temps. The lake is getting heavy recreational boat activity, for the holiday weekend, after 10am and the wake created can be unpredictable.

alot of under hybrids for me. all on lead spoon. 2 nice catfish hit the lead also. also some yellows and a few sandies. 155 bridge
