I agree with your post. I don’t know but I’m guessing the reason the give a boat away is because it sounds big. Plus, they advertise a $50,000 1sr place prize that is a actually not worth nearly that. It is so hard to move a certificate for an 18’ boat. For me it’s all about winning.

We won a TTT event at Rayburn in June’20 my partner had a Ranger that qualified for the upgrade to a 19 with a 225. Value on it was 52,900 we sold it within a week to a guy for 45k and he upgraded to a 20ftr. Money was split two ways and I have a good tax lady it worked out well for us and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. If someone buys the certificate they can upgrade to a bigger boat and pay the difference, they aren’t locked into what size the certificate says.

I think Todd said they actually had to get Russel's girlfriend to come and pull the boat they won home. I'd rather have the certificate. I do think it would be a little harder to move the boat. At least with that certificate you give someone options.

Thankfully most of us aren't good enough to have to worry about it.

Yep, it was an actual boat, not a certificate.

TTO is like Stacy's Mom.

Not bashing TTT as its well run and good folks but the payout ordeal is much better at TTO.

The DFW guys travel to Rayburn all the time. Myself included

The Triton Certificate I won was like a boat anchor, couldn’t be transferred to anyone, was only valid for 6 weeks then boat had to be ordered. We sold out for way less money to a dealer who would buy it. Next time I’ll order the boat and eat the taxes and fees then sell the boat.

That sucks.

I think they should offer a cash award as an option for these types of tournaments.

These trails are just trying to stay alive... that's a schedule that 100% makes the most money for them. Period.

You have a tournament trail with lots of Money and good sticks fishing for a 18 ft boat which is useless to any of them cause most all run 20 ft plus boats.

Now if you were in a kayak tournament winning a 18 ft boat would be a upgrade but in a big tournament winning a 18 ft boat is a down grade. Why Not Cash ?

Let the Winners be proud for their efforts.

A 18 ft boat would be a hard sell IMO

I guess a WIN is a WIN but winning a 18 ft boat when you already have a 20 ft plus I just don't get it. Plus winner pays the taxes on the value ?

Give the WINNERS something they can use and compete for and you can draw a bigger field not that you need anymore but Cmon Man !!!

Just my thoughts and why I don't fish this trail. Not much money and small prizes . IMO

I agree 100% I don't get it either.
