So I just wanted to give an initial review of my custom build from Power Tackle. I am buy no means and expert or authority on the matter, but I did want to give y’all an update.

I special ordered a 7ft 2 “ The One” 04HM with a full carbon handle in all black and I must say this thing came back a beauty. The fit and finish are excellent. I went out for a couple hours yesterday to a local pond just to get it a little broken in. I caught ten on a 10 inch power worm with the two best between 4-5 pounds and I must say I am super impressed. I will be the first to admit I have kind of turned into a bit of a rod snob. I blame Ken Addington for introducing me to the high end game when he helped me purchase my first G Loomis lol. The rod is super responsive and very sensitive. I love the moderate action and the parabolic bend of this rod.

Judy helped me thought he process and has been excellent to deal with. Wonderful consumer service so far. I love to try out new gear so I am constantly buying and selling rods to see what’s out there. I have either owned or fished quite a few high end rods in the last 3-4 years, and I have to say this is my favorite and I dont see myself giving this one up.

There is something special of how the rod bends and delivers a combination of sensitivity, power and control of the fish. It’s hard to describe it exactly except to say there is something plain fun about swinging on fish with this rod. It took a little getting use to it, but once I did I had a permanent grin on my face and I waited for the next thump. I was hesitate to buy a custom rod for fear I may not like it. The biggest fish I caught basically had to be boat flipped because I was standing on little bridge and could not reach the fish and the rod handled it like a champ.

I can’t speak to longevity of the rod but I can say if you are on the fence about getting a custom rod or about what company to spend your money with at this point and can’t see anyone being better than Power Tackle. Between the rod itself and Judy’s customer service I will definitely be back.

You are officially ruined. Judy is currently building me 2 more for the collection. As far as longevity, I have some of the earlier models still going strong. I’ve had a couple guides messed up over the years is all and Judy fixed them at no charge.

You do not have to worry about the longevity of a Power Tackle rod. They are amazing.

I have 13 power tackle rods without a single failure yet (cross my fingers)! I’ve broken 3 lews this year setting the hook and boat flipping. Not knocking Lews because those ledge series rods have been through a lot. A lot of good rods out there these days but after testing many different brand power tackle has stood out to me over the years.

I am very confident that the new rod will be great for along time. All i have been thinking about the past few days is getting a chance to throw it again soon!

I am just shocked more people dont fish Power Tackle. I am not trying to hate on other brands so I dont want to name names but they build a better rod the vast majority of companies out there right now.

Some of that probably has to do with price point and the fact you can’t just wander into the local shop and buy one at any time you like. I need to order a few more for myself as well now that I think of it.

I think Harley dude is right. It is a premium product and I was nervous because I had never even seen one until I bought mine. There are so many rods out right now kinda of hard to weed through them all.
