I usually fish for blue cats in the winter on other lakes.. but wanted to try and get into some striper with my kids.. I’ve never been to texoma and was wondering if anyone could give me a starting point in general.. not looking to get anyone’s honey holes.. thanks!

I’m not a pro on Texoma, I go 2 or three times a year, and for what it’s worth, this is how I find them.

1) Find birds, fish are under them

2) early morning if you look in flat areas, you could find surfacing fish.

3) find the boat shows, you will find fish.

4) find the underwater structure in 18-28ft near creek channels or creek mouths, you should find fish.

I like to go on the main river channel along the edge of the flats. Look for suspended fish in 30-40 foot of water and fish the edge of the flats!

Texoma is a big big lake. I would suggest hiring a guide. Do you prefer lures or live bait?
It does cost but you will save in the long run. Let them know you are more interested in learning the lake and
all the seasonal paterns than filling the ice chest. Good luck to you!

I try to help as best I can! They aren’t my fish so I don’t mind sharing! Josh from Southern Wind guide service and Steve from Ford’s guide service both did well today! They are catching fish on the flats, the edges and in the deep water….you have to look around to find the fish but they are hungry when you find them…
