Old❓ It is recommended to have your 1st colonoscopy at 45 years old. Now many will say screw it I ain’t doing a colonoscopy. Those are the ones that get colon cancer. But as I say with everything along medical choices, I’ll do me and you do you. Not directed solely at you but “you” meaning everyone else. Read my other post on this thread, I suggest anyone at 45 yo get a colonoscopy!!

I have had 6 of them because of family history starting in my 40s. Before that I got the dreaded barium enema. Nobody deserves that torture! The clear liquid part of the prep is bad but its definitely there for a good reason! And breakfast sure tastes good after its over- Aint that right TMD?

anybody that would rather risk rectal or colon cancer instead of logging a little time on the throne has some deeper issues.

I had my first one at age 52, they found cancer. The doctors said they wouldn't know what stage until after resection surgery. Boy did I get lucky, Stage 1, the cancer had not spread to the outer colon wall, and was not in the lymph nodes. I went through the resection surgery, no chemo or any other procedures. Good as new. The first 3 years after surgery I got a colonoscopy every year, now I go biennial.
GET IT DONE!!

Wet wipes are great, but even better, you want the...Luxe Neo 120 Non-Electric Self-Cleaning Nozzle Universal Fit Bidet Toilet Attachment Makes prep a breeze. (other than being hungry) Although wipes are good to have on hand for the first colon blow as it can be quite cataclysmic. When my wife bought this bidet attachment gadget and asked me to put it on I scoffed. Then, not long after, on Monday morning after way too much BBQ, chips and hot sauce and WAY too much beer during the game. I had a very rough, HOT and ruinous morning constitutional. I tried my wife's stupid bidet attachment and it is AWESOME! The ole hemorrhoids slowly went away and now I complain when I have to use a regular toilet. I figure I can afford loosing man points as I am so manly.

Got my first on along with an endoscopy when I was around 44 and they took out 2 polyps the size of a larger grape, then it was a colonoscopy every year for 5 years. The biopsy's came back negative, but the esophagus showed Barrett's Syndrome and I had been previously been diagnosed with H. pylori. Since my grandmother died from Stomach Cancer I had to to the endoscopy very 6 months for 5 years. Now I am on the 5 year plan on the lower and 2 years on the upper.
As for the Cologuard Test, my wife took one and got what turned out to be a false positive. She had to do a colonoscopy and since her insurance paid for the Cologuard, they paid very little on the follow up test. Just be prepared to pay way more out of pocket, if you get a positive hit on the easy test.
