So I have a question related to the boat deck material (SeaDek, GatorStep, etc) that guys have replaced carpet with or guys that have the newer boats where it's already installed in the cockpit.

Do you find this material to get hotter than it should....more specifically hot on bare feet?

And perhaps more important do you find it difficult to keep clean....dirt from shoes or fish blood, etc.

SeaDek is not hot at all. Cleaning is easy -- hit it with the hose and a little scrubbing -- it comes clean. I've had it on my boat for 2 years and it;s holding up very nicely.

This is a great topic. I have looked at the seadek product and thought I would be putting it on my rig once the carpet needs to be replaced. Interesting that I did have one guy tell me you can't clean it once it gets dirty. I told him then I just didn't see how, since the stuff is like a closed cell foam of sorts. I would think you could blow or vacuum most stuff, the fish slime and/or blood, sweat and tears, just a little soap and water...

Heck, how carpet is maintenance intensive cleaning required, I always thought anything would be better lol. So glad to see this topic come up.

I would think how hot on the bare feet, would be somewhat how dark of color you used. Sort of like how the color of our seats is affected by the sunlight. Here in Texas you get the darker colored anything, it's hot to the touch in the direct sunlight.

I have SafeFloor in my CC,it was in the boat when I bought it.At first I did not think I would like it but after a few trips I really wouldn't want anything else. The rubberized non skid is easy on the feet,a little pressure wash removes all stains and it looks great. After selling the 18' carpeted bass boat and bringing the 22' CC home,my 14 yo grandson looked inside the CC and said "wow poppa this is fresh",another satisfied customer.LOL

I took out the carpet from my deck and re-did it with Tuff Coat. It turned out great. The prep was hard , but application was easy,
I think I spent less than $200. It is holding up well ,

Your local SeaDek installer is Top Dek Manufacturing. They did my skiff, and I love it. (214) 564-3794‬ and please tell them I sent you!

Of course you have to choose the right color! It cleans up for sure.
