I'm taking a friend of mine to tawakoni Saturday. I have not been since last year but I am sure they are probably shallow right now. He has never been catfishing and I am wanting to put him on some blues and channels I usually set out jugs with cut shad on them but would like to get him on a rod and reel bite. I usually fish west of the state park but would appreciate any info on other areas I should be trying. Thanks for any info.

To catch channel cats this time of year, fish with chicken livers under a cork off the rocks. The dam is always good. If you can find other places that have rocky banks or broken up concrete w/ fairly deeper water nearby is also good. Be sure to use a small treble hook to hold the liver on. When the cork goes under, no need for a hard hook set...just pull back and you will be hooked up. Keep the liver cold or cut it up into small chunks and let them dry in the sun so they will kinda get hard. If the liver gets warm....it gets mushy and will not stay on hook. Hope this helps.

I would find some rocks , slip cork and use the bait you have been using on Fork. If they are there, you will catch them
