How close do you feel like another boat can get to you on their big motor and not effect the fishing when you are anchored?
My young son and I were trolling today at Texoma, and we tried to stay as far away as possible from other guides, but I was curious how close you think another boat could get? It wasn’t that crowded today, but we all know it’s only going to get busier.
So if you were anchored and fishing shad, how close could a boat get trolling and not affect them? Like I said, I try to stay as far away from each boat as possible, but just curious when you see fish break up and come back after another boat got too close.

some days you can be deadsticking an have a group of fish under you an someone can pull up 50 yards away an scatter the fish . most lakes are big there is no sense in getting close enough to another boat that they could hit your boat with a long cast .

It really depends on the situation I always try to keep distance away from anybody. Now with that being said there are also times that it is WAR especially during the summer striper runs at the dam and try to use as much courtesy as possible try to stay in front of them and not plow through them etc. Birds and splashes also change things seriously there are all kinds of different factors As much as we think it’s our water it’s PUBLIC and best for all involved to just play nice.

not a guide but kinda sorta 'nother problem, with lakes way down low these days, many docks are sitting land. Just this week I was returning to the ramp to load up and leave. There were a bunch of bank fishermen sitting along the boat ramp area fishing minnows under bobbers. Two of which had multiple lines out in front of the ramp. Not wanting to plow through them or cause any kind of disruption in their day for sure. But none offered to move lines out or permit me to beach the boat, and then back the trailer down the ramp. Just trying to be friendly about it all didn't seem to work. Some days you just cant win

It used to bother me, but now not so much. If people want to crowd and watch us catch fish they can. We will put on a pretty good show for them.
I always get a kick out of "thumper guy" who will come in close and turn it on and get ZEROED.
There is one guy here called "The Proctologist" because he is always up somebodies.........

Boat ramps are for loading and unloading boats, don't be afraid of doing what it was designed for. They are not supposed to be doing what they are doing so they should expect disruption.
