White Herons and lots of bird poop on rocks should tell an angler something !

White Herons and lots of bird poop on rocks should tell an angler something ! You will see the white cranes from far off.. Gborg is correct. They are the best fish finders in the early morning.. If you see a couple that is one thing, when you see 30-40 on a 30 yard bank, you know its something to check out. Even caught a crow eating the shad about a week ago.

When I was boatless years ago, the month of May is my happy time due to the shad spawn at DFW lakes. Shad run the first 2 hrs of daylight. I used the corn fields to gauge, 1 ft tall the spawn begins, after 5ft tall the spawn ends. Peek catching for me is when the corn is 2ft to 4ft tall.
March is happy time for me at the DFW creeks. Hope that helps.

Shad usually spawn along my bulkhead, but I didn't see it happen this year. My corn never sprouted!
