I have a Livescope I use crappie fishing in NE TX, but will be going to fish with a friend near Port O'Connor for Reds, trout, black drum and no telling what else soon. I am thinking about taking my Livescope and making a portable unit using an old ice chest and Milwaukee batteries. Will the saltwater damage the transducer? What about the 8612 unit? Suggestions on how to best protect them? Can salt-away be sprayed on everything, or just rinse with fresh water? I have a LVS32 and LVS34, which would be better?

I can't answer your questions , but I saw a TV show where they were using livescope targeting Tarpon in the Florida Keys,
The images were unmistakable. I have also seen Utube video using LS to target redfish. good luck , let us know how you do.
