I have one, it is the best boat I have owned so far, I think I am near 20 new boats, Ranger, Triton, Bullet and now Caymas.

Buddy of mine owns one, wishes he would have held out for a Phoenix

Latches break in rough water and caymas won’t warranty it even though it’s a known issue I think is what he said.

Couple of other things also, he doesn’t hate it just not what he expected is all.

Either we have the same buddy or they have serious issues. I witnessed the latches on multiple compartments break. It was rough but not that rough.

Hmmm, the latches look like the same type that I have had on most of my boats, not sure how they could break, been in lots of rough water, no problem with latches, maybe they got a bad batch. I also find it very strange that Caymas would not warranty a latch if it is defective. About the only complaint that I have heard about Caymas is the Medallion gauge, having trouble with the gas gauge reading correctly.

It could be worse. Caymas could use the plastic latch like my skeeter. I buy 8-10 a year. No kidding. @$27 a piece. Hit a wave, get to your spot and a latch or two have had the handle flip up, one step and it is crunched. Truly sucks. They are a STUPID size and will require new carpet to fix. I have no idea what they were thinking. Then, they are only available from one person. He must have a storage building with thousands of them stacked to the ceiling. He must have bought every one of them.

I have had mine for over a year, best boat I have owned as well. I have had 1 cam bar break (battery compartment lid) but no issues on any other lid. I spoke to Caymas and they sent me a new one free with no questions asked. I actually bought 2 perko cam bars online prior to calling caymas, but they came in with a smaller diameter bolt hole, so I called Caymas to see where I can buy them and they just sent me one for free. I have talked to Caymas about my lettering as well, sent me free replacements. I have never been told that a single thing would not be covered by warranty, and they have been very easy to talk to any time I needed to call them. I fully suspect that anyone claiming the latches are not covered under warranty is either lying about trying to get it fixed, or is dealing with a lazy dealership that doesnt want to fix anything.

Pros - Great ride, great fishing platform, stable base, excellent responses from the home office
Cons - wasted space (should have more little storage boxes in areas), and I kind of hate the completely enclosed fiberglass rod boxes but everyone is doing that now

I did break one of the letters on the Caymas badging, dealer has a new one for me, no charge. One thing I will say negative about my boat and its just my opinion, I am not a big fan of the push button control pads, thats just me, would rather have the manual control knobs or dials whatever they are called.

Owned four of them and just ordered my fifth one, 23 model is for sale and loaded. never had that issue nor anyone I know has mentioned it either. There is an option for slam latches on the 24 model. I’ve never heard a negative about their customer service.

A boat a year is not where I would look to see how well a boat lasts.
My Allison has slam latches and I don't even know when they started using them. My boat is a 99.

They look just like the Bass Cat slam latches.

I know this same buddy and its not just on his boat. Crazy something so small and simple could be such an issue.
