On your Live Tech???
I've researched and researched and can't find any hard evidence of what this structure is under my Lake Houston.... I've heard talk of it being a ole dam or pumping station from the pre 1950's....
Anybody got any info?
It use to be a great spot to get a quick limit of crappie but those BIG slimmers have taken over with me seeing some on my Garmin Livescope that shows to be over 4ft long..... This is by far the biggest piece of structure in this lake....
I have a helm recording that I'll be sharing on this week's YouTube live show Wednesday night @9pm cst.... y'all come check us out and be sure to subscribe to the channel SK's Crappie Catching Adventures....

way back in the day of train travel and commerce, every town on the route would have "filling stations" .

the old steam trains used water, and they would stop at filling stations along the way to get water.
have you noticed any train tracks around this structure?

they used to also build alot of old cotton gins near riverbanks,, likely needed water to run the gins as they were run by steam engines as well... when not processing cotton, they made a little moonshine on the down low.. ha
maybe look at your topographic map and see if that structure is next to the river channel.. most texas lakes are not natural lakes, they were flooded over natural flowing rivers that have been there for millenia.
cool find,,

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

AWESOME Scan SK.! Like LP mentioned that`s definitely a loading platform of some kind. King"COTTON" perhaps?? Texas once had a brief history of trade ,commerce using the Trinity River system with a system of locks & Dams to transport goods north before it was discontinued. Maybe this is a part of that history!? hmmm noidea

Those are great pics. Sorry, I know nothing about the area so I can't help you on the history.

Finally tied some dots together and found an article that explained what this structure was and what it was used for......
It's a pumping station that was on the San Jacinto River in the 1940's it was used to pump water to Sheldon Reservoir and that supplied Houston with drinking water and also supplied a few companies that made war weapons a water supply. There's not much info and I haven't found any pics of the pumping station before Lake Houston was dammed and flooded in 1954......
I've heard a few ole timers say it was a pumping station but I was hoping to find pics and a good story but with it being used in the 1940's not to many areal pics were taken back then.....
It's amazing the amount of big cats that hold on this thing.....
