My son has decided that he would like to go on a grand fishing adventure for his graduation gift and asked about doing a fishing trip in Alaska. I remember doing a two week fishing trip in Kenai, Alaska during my late teens that was AMAZING, but that was 25 years ago and I don't remember any of the contacts. I do remember flying to a remote location via a puddle jumper plane, then taking a dingy 30 minutes to the middle of nowhere and doing some amazing fishing while surrounded by bears. If I could replicate that for him it would be great, but I don't even know where to start.
Does anybody know of any highly rated guide services that can provide an experience like that?

You are about to have the time of your life! If you are looking at the Kenai - I have fished with Josh Hayes on a few occasions and it was simply fantastic. He fishes all up and down the Kenai and is always on the crazy fish...super nice guy as well. https://alaskatroutguides.com/
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Thank you all for the great suggestions, I'm reviewing them now. Coach Hark, I'm fortunate that my work requires me to travel a lot which creates a large amount of flight, hotel, and vehicle rental rewards points. I'm hoping I can do this trip with only the cost of meals, guided services, and tips

Alaska is awesome -- depends on if he wants to river / lake fish , or he wants to ocean fish . I did the ocean version twice --once with my son , once with my daughter . Eagle Charters , on Chigacoff Island , allows for both inside waters ( Halibut ) and outside waters ( halibut , salmon , ling cod , sea bass , rock fish ) . Mine were 4 day trips --- when it was rough on the outside waters , we would simply stay on the inside area's and load up on halibut . Both trips we caught halibut to 130Lbs , ling cod to 55lbs , Kings to 35lbs and slivers to 10lbs --- the sea bas were 5-6 lbs and we caught em on every drop . Bait and giant jigs were the ticket .

If you want off shore fishing, the happy hooker out of Kodiak Island is top notch. If fly fishing on Kodiak Island, I recommend the Saltery River tour. You will see and fish with lots of bear.

My brother lives up near Kenai, as do a couple of my cousins. Haven't been there myself. If your last trip up there was 25 years ago, you may be disappointed with the restrictions in place now - lots of closures, emergency orders, etc to protect the spawning Kenai kings (size and numbers are down significantly from historical levels). But I can ask them for recommendations in the area if you have your heart set on that. One place that I can highly recommend is Whaler's Cove lodge in Angoon. https://www.whalerscovelodge.com/ They'll load you up on a good mixed catch, and you can customize your trip with freshwater fishing, shore excursions, kayaking, etc. There's also some really good outfits on Kodiak island, don't recall the names offhand, but will look at my notes when I get to the office today.
