I know these rumors seem to start every year or so but i figure a few people on here actually know the right people to ask. I heard the rumor that rayburn will be lowered for a dam repair. Any truth to that? Like i said, you hear these rumors about every year so...

The guy that owns/runs Need More Tackle shop told me the same thing a few weeks ago, said they were going to draw it down 6’ to work on the dam, after it was 6’ low for a year give or take.

That makes sense.

These rumors circulate constantly about all lakes. They are rarely true

I hear these rumors every year. This year I heard it as "they are dropping it 14' to fix the dam". Obviously I knew that wasn't true, but I talked to the Lake Manager at the Corps. He confirmed they were dropping it 6-7' in June/July to do some work on the spillway. He did say that when it got drawn down there was a chance it would go a little lower if they needed it, but nothing near 14'. It does worry me that we will be starting the summer out 6' low going into the dry season...so we could easily see 8-9' low this year before the winter rains start to fill it back up.

Every lake in Texas has these rumor every year, lets learn from this.

Why would the lake need to be dropped to work on the spillway? I can understand the dam. Honestly I don't know.

Yes. Terrible, terrible timing. We just seemed to be making some headway with grass then this...the flip side is we do need some extended low water periods to allow some good, solid vegetation to grow on the banks again...so maybe that can happen this summer.

I would also take advantage of the low water to marks stumps etc... for boat lanes. I did a lot of that this past summer, but not near enough.

Hopefully many homeowners don't clear the shoreline when the lake is down. Seen a few places this year where the homeowners cleared what they could.
