Texas is going to struggle with water issues for many years to come. I mentioned the Dallas pipeline in this post on our website blog:

"Add to this the pressure of a rapidly expanding population not only here, but in Dallas, and you can see how ever-greater pressure is going to be put upon our percolating groundwater. Dallas has now stuck big straws into Lake Fork, Lake Tawakoni, and will, eventually, be taking water out of Lake Palestine, as well. According to a story on WFAA, Dallas could suck 350 million gallons of water every day out of Smith County. Thats enough to fill 21,663 swimming pools or irrigate 403 golf courses on a hot August day."

What was in the paper awhile back and the time period they said the pipeline from Palstine would tie into the one from Richland Chambers and then the new one out of cedar Creek Lake and would go to Ft, worth, and would or should be completed by the year of 2020 and then ft, worth has a contract with Dallas to start selling them water in 2021, When they do that Cedar Creek will probably for sure be low most all of the time.

Yes, Dallas owns most of the water rights to Lake Palestine. UNRMA office says that the lake will go down some, but we lose more water to evaporation than any drawdown. Estimated date for completion is 2025. Surveys are still ongoing for the 8 ft pipe.
Palestine is still a great crappie lake !!

The River authority says that Dallas will take water during the summer. We will notice the drawdown.......like inches. They cannot take too much water as it would destroy the lake and property. At least. That is what the agreement states.

Lots of lakes in west Texas with houses hundreds of feet to miles from the water. My lay mans opinion when the water starts pumping you will notice. When you have dry spells like now, you will see the lake much lower than you have ever seen it. Docks and ramps will be out of the water much more often. I don't trust a government to not find a way to draw more water than agreed on during the planning. It would seem the healthiest lake will be the one that has the most cost associated per gallon. Texas seriously needs a better conservation plan for water than to keep pumping until the lakes go dry. My bet it will take thousands of people with out water during a drought before people start making real compromises. Kind of just the way us humans are.

Just rumblings that shouldn't be taken to seriously.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

It will be completed in 2027. In just another 3.5 to 4 years from now, Dallas will be able to pump 350 million gallons a DAY from lake palestine.

Ya'll remember the drought of 2011?

As growing cities continue to side step their constituents demands by selling water to meet and or exceed budgets .

Rain is the only answer !

More reservoirs need to be built. They have been talking about one close to me since the Nixon administration but so far…….crickets.
