So Bardwell ain’t making this list? With it’s rock dam, two-lane bridge, and run down parks?


Let’s not forget about Arlington…it’s the only lake in NTX where there is a styrofoam container and styrofoam cup punching pattern year round!

Amistad for scenery,Falcon for good breakfast tacos....

When I was down there I enjoyed the fact that you could fish half a day and barely see another boat.

Looks like Amistad is 36% full. Is it still worth hitting this low or has that become the norm down there?

From my experience Amistad has always been a good numbers lake. The variable for me has always been quality.

If there is grass in 10-20', you can usually find some quality bites. When the grass is only in < 5', it can be a bit tougher. It seems like during the summer when grass is only shallow, I can only catch fish in 5' of water or 30+ foot of water.

Others may have different experiences, and probably know the lake much better than me.


With that said, I've never regretted a trip to Amistad.

Caddo for sure, Lake O the Pines too.

UH..........NO.....Lake Travis or Lake Austin in the party coves with drunk UT coeds in bikinis.............

I like Rayburn. You can fish all day and not see a house or camp. Big tall pines and big open water
