Is it still fine to toss red cranks right now or is it over now? I am deciding if I should keep carrying them or put them away.

From my experience red cranks are over rated- they’ll bite on shad color all the time. I know I’ll get flamed for the that opinion…😝

Google the types abd colors of crayfish in your area by season.

It's all in your head, and I think water color is a big factor. I follow the craw color, and I turn rocks allot. But if you have confidence in something you will do well, if it doesn't feel right "stop" and make a change. Time on the water will help you decide, and it never hurts to try something different. Personally I like any warm colored belly crankbaits. But I like to try and match the craw most of the time.

Red Is my favorite color. Rat L Traps, crankbaits and soft plastics. Never caught one on a red spinnerbait. I know people catch them on red spinnerbaits so I'll keep trying.

I usually keep three different colors tied on and then a silent version also when I’m trying figure them out including a red one no matter the time of year. Then I choose which one I think should work the best according to water clarity. Next I will throw a different color to see if it improves or hurts my catch rate.

When I’m on a school and catching fish once the bite slows I will pick up a different color to throw and often times I catch a few more on the different color crank bait. If you have fished several days consecutively then fish can get used to seeing a certain color and shy away from it. This is where throwing a different color or silent crank bait can make all the difference.

No matter what don’t let someone else convince you the fish won’t bite a certain color certain times of year but rather let the fish tell you what they prefer.

thats not even a match though, there is no red on that craw what so ever, and its more brown that green. Its like text book green pumpkin.

Red traps work year round in some bodies of water for sure.

I will fish them in February up to mid march. From there I match the hatch. Green pumpkin or a shad color depending on color of water.
The Coosa River , the go to color is green pumpkin and you can fish that color year round.
I will not shy away from throwing a red crankbait or even a red or plum worm, its is my second or third choice after March.
From June to late September, my cranks will be in the shad color and worms I will go with many different colors to flip, swim or drag. These Coosa Spots will hit about anything if the water is moving.
Junebug color is something I will throw from mid summer to early fall
Swim-jigs in a whitish color all summer long.
But you will always find something in green pumpkin on the deck of my boat.

This late spring my favorite color for flipping jigs has been brown with a #11 Uncle Josh pork trailer in crawdad brown.

you can throw a trap year around in shad colors, but I aint throwing no red unless it's the dead of winter lol

Looks pretty good to me. I bet it will catch fish.
