Why do we celebrate birthdays? It is absolutely meaningless. The actual day of your birth was pretty important, I'll give you that. But every year thereafter you are celebrating the absolute minimum a person has to do in life... not die.

Now starting around 80 or so, those people have actually accomplished something by not expiring. I'm all about celebrating an accomplishment at that point. But otherwise don't expect me to acknowledge your mediocrity when you have survived another 365 days.

I think we should ask parents the hard question and pinpoint the date of conception and celebrate that day.

it's the norm..we are trained to do it

personally I've trained my family to not so much as send me a card - took a while of me sending them back for them to learn... thats just me... I do honor my wife's and nephews birthday anniversaries with cards, gifts, and the take the wife out to dinner at a nice place...

I’ve worked at several different schools with several thousands of people. And no one celebrates a birthday like a black woman. They have a birthday week, many take the whole week off but most take their birthday off. A few black men do the same but not near as many as the women.

It's just a great reason to get family together and BBQ and drink beer . We started doing birthday months seems to work better

It doesn’t take much to say happy birthday, we basically do it by text in our family, just to touch base

My senior classs had 12 in it.. 4 of us had the same birthday.

For my oldest it is easy. Christmas Eve it was one present I didn't wrap that year.
