All the berries on the Agarita bushes are ripe so we decided to make some jelly. This would be our first attempt.

It is a lot of work to harvest the berries. First we tried beating the bushes with a stick but found it easier to just "strip " the branches. Either way you have to clean out all the bugs leaves and twig debris.



We took the berries home and picked out more leaves, sticks, and bugs. We then washed them and squeezed the juice out.

We washed and boiled the jars and lids to prepare for the jelly.



The end result was delicious! It has a sweet/tart taste, unlike any other fruit I've tasted

I think my mother in law would've been proud of us. Susie loved making jellies also.

End result was deeeeelicious! We had buttered toast for lunch😋

😁 we put our kids and grandkids pics on the table and put a clear plastic table cover. The grandkids enjoy looking at the pictures when they come over .

Very clever using the umbrella! I had a jar of agarita jelly once, it was nice.

I hope you researched if they were ok for consumption first,...

I say the flavor is between a strawberry and a rasberry but sweeter than both.

I snack on them , I'm worst than a mocking bird.
My grandmother use to make jellies out of these berries. If you come across a agrira bush with dark red berries try them.

Yes sir I do, but homemade jellies taste alot more better. Make some you'll see what I'm talking about🙂
