Damn Grout! You don’t have to be so blunt, do you? I’m 54 and have 20/20 vision. I see fish turds on mine on a 7” Carbon! I don’t NEED a 12” screen to see a fish. I used it Saturday to better 48 teams, while I was solo….albeit, I did get beat by two teams of young guns. Picking off smallmouth in 15 FOW was like taking candy from a baby. There…..I said it. Now everyone go buy one. This old geezer is on a run! You’re probably like the third or fourth youngest in your club. Hahaha. I thought I was second oldest….turned out he retired early and I am the oldest. I am surrounded by college anglers and 30-something wannabe pros.

I can’t think of anything that has driven a wedge in fishing the way FFS has. I get both sides.

It will definitely show where fish are, but you still have to learn how to get them to bite what you are throwing. I’ve learned a lot from mine, and like a few have said, how many times I’m around fish and cannot put them in the boat. I have also caught many fish I would have never caught if I had not seen them and worked them. It’s like any other thing in fishing …some are good at it and some are not…
I will say crappie are easy, bass need to be worked…put in time and you will “get it”

Only the young dudes are good with it, you old geezers might as well quit wasting your money on it, you can’t see the screen good enough to capitalize with it. Absolutely cracks me up, when people think they are going to buy it and all of a sudden be competitive again. You think you’ll be depressed, because you have to buy it. You’ll be depressed when you realize you wasted your money and suck with it! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/04/full-61983-180790-extended_graph_mount.jpg) The 'challenge' has already been solved. I know a lot of "old geezers" who have embraced technology and are teaching the younger generation how to implement it...fishing and otherwise. Step back, show some respect, and wash the sand out of your vagina.

I mostly fish for fun and I'm still having fun without it. If I was a serious tourney angler I'd have it, it's a powerful tool to have, it doesn't mean you'll win, but it could help. Caught some of these dudes yesterday. No FFS. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/04/full-98840-180793-april24smalls2.jpg)

I love it! Use it mainly for crappie, sandbass, and hybrids! Currently moving to active target 2 from livescope plus. Only cause I found a carbon 16 for a good price.
And I’m not going to say I use it for bass, because I don’t want you to think it actually works or you can see the fish with it. Lol

The cost is definitely depressing but having it is a blast.

We fish out of my partners 30 year old boat. We have done upgrades on sonar and finally this year put an Ultrex on it but we are not in a position to afford FFS. We focus on fishing the way we like to fish, doing the things we do best and trying to do things other teams are not doing and maybe fish areas other people are not and make it work. We've had a lot of success doing that. I'm proud of that. We don't fish many large events. We're Club guys and enjoy it. We pride ourselves in being able to compete against people that have every bell and whistle available to them and beat them a lot of times. You do the best you can with what you have. I have no issue with anyone having and using FFS. Different strokes

FFS can be much more than staring down at a screen all day targeting individual fish. The ability for me to maneuver Falcon in shallow water without plowing a stump or sudden obstacle while using my trolling motor to fish or travel a short distance has been worth the investment alone. Spotting stumps, brush, and rocks under the surface around me not visible prior to having live scope has proved invaluable. After purchasing FFS I probably learned more about the fish around me in one or two weeks that I had imagined their activities were in prior years on the water being in their presence. Tying off to a large tree to take a lunch break with my FFS unit on is like watching As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, and Who's Coming to Dinner all at the same time. At age 75 there isn't all that much time and energy left to spend it casting in dead water my friends.

I just upgraded my electronics to Garmins and will be buying LS as soon as it is all connected. I am anxious to see if this does anything to improve fishing.

I am not a professional fisherman or guide, nor to I care to ever be either one, therefore I choose to fish the way I enjoy. For me, FFS makes no financial sense. I wouldn't use it like it should be used. I am a shallow water guy. If it gets to the point where you absolutely have to have one to compete in any sort of tournament (I don't think it will), then I will just quit fishing tournaments. I have nothing against the technology, however. It is the world we live in. Fishing is only going to get tougher with the increase in both fisherman and technology.
