I've been on Palestine, Fork, and LOP in the last week although Fork was only for a brief moment to check out my trolling motor! Hat's off to Chuck and Don at Texas Trolling Motor for getting me back on the water! Spawn is wrapping up and the fish are moving to their summertime haunts and should be more predictable here on out. I've been fishing mostly timber in 18-26 FOW with fish suspended at 8-16' down mostly. I'm using hand tied jigs in Popcycle, Bad Shad, and Gingertruce to put fish in the boat. Casting 1/4 oz when we can get away with it and switching to 1/8oz when the fish are finicky or were chasing black crappie. They were stacked up really good on timber last week on LOP but we had to hunt for them yesterday and they were real spooky. Couple days ago they were on every tree it seemed like. Docks should be warming up as well. The dock bite on Palestine has been nearly nonexistent for me this year, but I expect that to change real quick. It's by far my favorite way to catch crappie. I have weekday dates available after the Crappie Masters Elites on Millwood starting May 2nd and I have one weekend day left in May as well May 27th. Seeing that's the start of Memorial Day weekend I would suggest Fork. Let me know if you want to get on the books and get in on the action. Fishing is great right now! Palestine and LOP are both showing out. I'm fishing main lake timber on both lakes. LOP I'm primarily catching black crappie and using 1/8oz and 1/16oz jigs. Color doesn't seem to matter really but size sure does. On Palestine I'm casting 1/4 oz jigs to fish on timber and gingertruce has been my go to there! I have some dates open in May if you want to get in on some of the best fishing of the year holler!
