There was a good tackle shop in Garland, near Lake Ray Hubbard, in the 80's and 90's. Near the DPS off I-30.
I think they were a Tracker boat dealer and they had a bad [censored] worm bar! The name escapes me... Walkers on I-30 Yep that was Walkers. They sold Skeeter but may have switched to Tracker/Nitro at some point but I cant remember. Also just down the road by the old Circle Grill you had Fin & Feather that sold Tracker/Nitro and had a decent tackle supply there.

Fin & Feather on Harry Hines was also a great shop. When you were done there, you could also go beaver hunting in that same area.

The Bass House in Lewisville was a cool place. Heck I remember someone Academy stores had worm bars. I loved that place, BPS and Academy killed it...Pond King in Lindsey on 82 has a sweet little tackle shop and a great worm bar still!!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

Did Smitty have a giant slot car track inside a storefront in Oak Cliff? A guy at work from around there thinks it was the same guy.

I was at Smitty's only one time in the old days. There was a "Bass House" in Plano as well. They had a worm which I frequented often.

I got confused and forgot there were 2 spots. I grew up in SE Garland and Rockwall. We lived near Rowlett Rd and Bobtown and we used to ride our bikes to both and to Fisherman's Supply. As well as Stovall Cycle when they were on 30, but we used to ride our motor cycles there a lot, back when you could do that kind of stuff. good memories

Growing up on the other side of the metromess we had several old school places like that U.S. Sportsales was a great one. (Now Fun N Sun) Bob Moore Tackle in Colleyville Olsen’s. Still around but just has changed over the years Bought my second boat from US Sport Sales, 1982 Skeeter Champ. Good boat, but a bad Suzuki outboard on it. Do you remember the small store in Arlington near New York Avenue ? I can't recall the name but that's where we got our Mann's Jelly worms from.

Outdoors Unlimited was in Arlington west of New York Av. Yes, went there many times when I went to school and worked in Arlington in the 80’s. The other shop was much smaller , I think it was in a small shopping center at Park Row and New York.

Had a devotional over the loud speaker and said the pledge of allegiance every morning. Not a air conditioner to be found. Nothing but fans. Good ol days.

If any of were ever West of the Metro Plex Trophy Tackle in Mineral Wells was a great place to visit . The guy that owned it was Bob Murphy. He made the best spinnerbaits I ever used. Still have a few and they still catch fish.
