I'm trying to find out what a typical 21 foot bass boat weighs loaded with rods/reels/tackle/drinks/etc. and full of gas.

I'm planning to buy a travel trailer this year and I will need to purchase another vehicle so my wife can tow the boat to the lake when we go camping. I have a Ram 2500 that I'll use for towing the boat all other times. I just need something adequate to pull the boat to the lake and back home when we decide to camp.

I really don't want to purchase another full size gas guzzling truck, so I'm looking at my options.

Ford Ranger, Toyota, Cevy Trail Blazer.

Lots of options in 6-cylinder models that should work. I'm guessing we're looking at around 6000 pounds, fully loaded. I will do the math later. roflmao

Any 1/2 ton pickup will tow a 21' boat. Stopping a 21' boat with a small pickup/SUV can get tricky.

We have one of these and it is a sweet little truck with plenty of power. Ours is 4WD and has a lift and bigger tires and gets about 22 mpg. A friend had a 2wd model and got over 30 mpg, neither one of those numbers are towing. Ours would pull the boat no problem as long as you have trailer brakes.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm looking for something with a tow rating around 6000 pounds.

I might also get something with great fuel economy and buy an older truck to tow. Nice 1/2 ton trucks are pretty pricey these days.
