Hello,

I have a 94 Black Max 150 that will rev at neutral and in reverse. When you put it in forward gear to start off it acts like it is being choked out and will die if you don't let off the throttle. It idles fine. I just had the engine tuned up with new plugs and carbs cleaned because we thought that might be the problem. Compression checked out on all cylinders to be ok. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Brad

was this tha reason for doin' tha carbs and plugs? or did it start actin' up after ya did those items?

did ya check (rebuild) pulse pump? how old are fuel lines?... could be fuel delivery and/or electrical? jus gonna be a guess tryin' ta diagnose ona computer..

Fuel lines are less than a year old and yes, the carb work was done because of the issue.

Make sure all the carbs are synced and linked together perfectly, if you got some that are off and just a little, you will get a stumble in her as you throttle up in gear.

Best way to check, with airbox off, engine off, peck on each throttle plate with a long screwdriver. You peck it with the blade of the screwdriver like a bird. Lightly... Your just listening to how each throttle plate sounds. Make certain your at idle to do this. Other words these plates need to be completely closed...

You will hear a solid peck on all, if not, there is one or more standing open. You will hear a difference if some are closed and one or more isn't.

idles and seems ta do jus fine ona hose don't mean a thing.... only true test needs ta be under a load.

only thing left fuel delivery wise is tha pulse pump?.. replace/rebuild?.. if ya confident with a good carb rebuild and all tha other stuff mentioned are good ta go then ya need ta start checkin' electrics............. but still sounds like it may be fuel related?

also i have an OEM manual on pdf if ya would like ta have it?.. jus need an email addy...
