Hey y'all.
Wanted to jump in and discuss the shared photos.
The actual failure point was first the piston. When that fails, without a Leash, it allows the motor to freely swing forward. Once that happens the motor has enough leverage to pull the plate out of the jackplate bracket. The purpose of the Leash would be to grab the motor after the piston fails and pull it down before getting e We can't guarantee The Leash will you just like your seatbelt doesn't guarantee to save your life in your vehicle. It is there to help in the case of an accident.
We appreciate all the responses comments and concerns.
We are shipping out orders as fast as possible so if you are waiting on your Leash we appreciate the patience.
I can take any questions to my email or call me!

We are working through backorders and shipping them as fast as possible. We are looking at shipping around 100 per week. These are all handmade and woven tethers made of vectran.

... ASSume the leash has been tested, their insurance wouldn’t even let them continue in business without it. Nothing on their website so (no video evidence) I'd say no, it's never been tested... And something else to consider... Mercury Service Bulletin 2013-15R1 specifically addresses that absolutely NOTHING should be mounted to the engine mounting fasteners other than the engine. This would include any auxiliary brackets meant to secure straps, fasteners, cables, steps, brackets, wedges, etc... So you're playing Russian Roulette with your warranty if you run a Mercury... Dan probably due to some folks making brackets for power poles etc? when mine finally gets here I am probably going to drill a hole in the side of the jackplate, if it is long enough.

Not to be a neighsayer, well yes....
This seems to me like the joke about Earthquake insurance in California. Sell a ton without empirical evidence of the product "working." If the injury occurs, lawyer up and leave town. Remind me,, do they have a disclaimer on the website?
That sounds harsh, and it is. I just wish they would "prove" it works and not sell a product based on the emotions of an extremely remote event.

Not that remote of an event- and once could save a life. I've never been thrown from my boat in 40+ years of fishing, but there's a law requiring me to attach a kill switch and I do. American company that I don't mind supporting with what I consider to be cheap ROI if it does happen. And it may sound harsh- you don't have to buy it.

What is it about The Leash that makes people on here so angry? There's been a few interviews from guys who run one who said they hit an underwater obstruction and the Leash worked as designed. If you don't want to buy one, then don't.

My wife bought one for my new motor…after seeing pics of the latest accident. She said it was for her piece of mind. Not necessarily mine. She said it was inexpensive compared to a new reel. (I got her trained on the CTSV). I will say I think it doesn’t fit my 150 SHO very well. Excess slack, IMO. But, the workmanship seems pretty good. All in all, I’d give this product about a “B-“. If it fit better, I’d give it an “A”. The Red heat shrink is kinda pink… All in all, eh…..take it or leave it for me. But I have one and my wife is happier. You know what they say about “happy wife…?

Thought I posted to this yesterday. It seems like a good concept but I think it would work far better if it were attached to the boat tie down loops on the transom. With a really hard lick I don't think they'd hold up put would probably kill more inertia than the current design keeping the motor off the passengers. Thinking the same thing because with the other incident that happened the jackplate snapped

Steez, Thanks for the review. To help with the slack, you can mount your leash bolts on a lower setting to help take some of that out. Here is an install video.
