Stinky fish and in my opinion not that good to eat. OK trotline bait.

No, because I didn't bring my tiny cooler for good luck since I got skunk on Friday and Saturday when I had the cooler.................... and my cooler is smaller than the fish anyway......... I have more success when I don't have a cooler with me......

They are excellent blackened and are all around good table fare. The outdoor channel the Meat Eater did a show on the Gasper Gou and had two food experts that proved they are good to eat. The Louisiana Sportsman has done several articles over the years reporting how good the Gou eats. They are the dumbest fresh water fish ( they have rocks in there heads) I’m Thankful for people who like to live in the city and Thankful for people who “Catch and Release “ !!!

It`s AMAZING how terrible somethings can taste when you don`t know how to cook it or prepare it. I think my standards are pretty decent and I`ll take all the fresh water Drum/Gou I can get.

I caught one at Lavon once and my fishing partner said his dad would be very happy to have it. I keep it and gave it to him. I have always heard they are great eating. Some have called them the poor mans lobster. I have never eaten one so I can't confirm what I have heard. I know my friends dad was very happy to have him.
