When you throw a Senko do you use a ewg or straight shank hook? Why?

I get much better hookups with a regular offset vs. EWG. The angle of the hook point is why I believe I miss too many on an EWG. However in certain situations, an EWG is necessary based on plastic thickness.

Straight shank would be the same concept as an offset round bend relating to the hook point.

Straight shank on everything I can. It has the largest gap between line tie and hook point.

New straight shanks are the ones of old. Now with the new bait keepers they will hold baits so much better

Owner J hook 4/0 for a Senko type bait and I rig it Txposed. I can't stand a straight shank hook for anything.

Gary Yamamoto told me many years ago the 5" is best with a 3/0 EWG hook

So I go with that

Wacky rig is mostly a 1/16 oz straight shank with a weed guard. Texas rigged flipping is a straight shank with a pegged 1/16 weight.
I mostly use an ewg hook for creature/bulky baits, with the idea being the plastic can wad up on the bend of the hook and I still have enough gap left for the hook to penetrate the bass' mouth.

Why is it legit? Because of the angle of the hook point vs. a standard EWG?
