My dad is 93 years and he's coming to Texas next week to see me and do some Texas Crappie fishing. I've rented a place in Mineola and we're going to fish Lake Fork for 5 days. It's a boys trip for my dad to fish and fellowship with me, my brother, uncle, son and nephew. I have not fished since before the pandemic, and I have not fished Fork in over 10 years. I watched a Jerry Hancock YouTube video (https://youtu.be/4Z9IF3FMn3w), and it looks like the west branch of the lake is my best bet for Crappie in the Spring. I welcome any suggestions that would help me put him on some fish. I'm not looking for specifics, just the branch of the lake to fish, and techniques that will help him catch a fish or two.

Thanks in advance,
C3

I love Lake Fork and the fish have been staging at the bridge piling the last couple of weeks and on timber. I personally would try Holbrook down the road and hit the boat docks. Good luck

I would fish timber 14-24FOW close to the river channel or secondary creek channels if you had Livescope. If not I would hit the Birch Creek bridge. I've been using 1/4oz Slab Syndicate jigs in Popsicle and bad Shad fishing timber. I would go with a 1/16oz on the bridge. My Tuesday cancelled for Fork if you wanted to be sure to put him on some fish! If the wind isn't howling it's been great!! thumb

Thanks for the advice!
Pops won't get here until Thursday. We'll be at the lake on Friday, March 31st.

BTW, I have my LiveScope ordered, but it won't be here in time for our trip to Fork frown

My brother caught a few fish under the 514 bridge using Livescope, but no joy for Pops and the rest of us. Is there a shallow water bite anywhere? They leave this coming Wednesday.

In the backs of coves 1-3ft with a slip bobber. I would check the area just south of Axtons Bass City on 2946.
