First of all a confession that I am obsessed with topwater fishing but the last couple of days I've been throwing a KVD Sexy Dawg in a couple of lakes/ponds near me and it's got me all jacked up. The flat throat makes it super easy to work side to side and for whatever reason it just seems like the fish choke it more than other tops I have thrown. Anyone else throwing it?

It's easy to be obsessed with top water when conditions are right, and the fish are cooperating. But sometimes you have to MAKE Bass bite instead of LETTING them bite. On those days or times that my Spook presentation seems slow to draw a reaction, I will switch over to the Sexy Dog because I am more comfortable fishing it faster along the surface. The lures throat design allows me to do this.

What's nice is that there are so many surface lure designs fish smash. I've always been a Zara Spook angler for decades but have caught fish on the same lure shape you did well on.

BTW Thanks for the post Steve. Got me thinking about using more topwaters this year.
