I keep a spare in the boat with my spare trolling motor prop and shear pin.

your motor will operate and you will be ok if one of the bushings goes out, it just has some wiggle in it. Replaced mine last night. its not a repair you can make on the water

You are welcome. I added this cable sleeve several months back as well. I like it so far. I wasn't really having any issues with my Ultrex UT I plan on keeping this boat a bit longer so I figured as inexpensive as these add ons were that it made sense to me.

Has anyone found a fix for the handle cable rubbing a slice into the coiled cables? I have to make a very conscious effort every time to pull the cable away from the coiled set of wires. Over five years, I have forgotten enough that the coiled wiring’s jacket has a nice hole in it.

And now I’m about to spend money, was just complaining about this today because mine had a massive gash in the metal from the cord.

I have never had the cable slice into the coiled up wires. Just run the cable on the other side lol

You can see the direction I pull. Would love for the plastic pieces to not become brittle from the sun and fall apart like mine have.

I used to pull mine straight up….had to try and break that habit. I now have to pull to the side like you. I have a big groove in the hole like your troller has. It hasn’t caused a problem though. I have broken the cable several times where it pulls against the latch. And the last time it broke, it was at the handle. Since then, I’ve gone to the big red one. Stronger looking handle and slightly thicker cable.

Big red one is better for sure, the jacket around the cable is thicker.
