I'm probably one of the few people that like catching these. They are not the prettiest fish by any means but they are very fun to catch on light tackle. The big ones fight pretty good too. I heard they can good to eat when taken out of clean water. I've never tried bullhead before. Anyone ever tried bullhead before and if so how are they as table fare?

I used to take my kid to Kids Castle in Highland Village when he was little. He would play on the castle for 5 minutes then wanna fish. Just throw out some bread and the bullheads would come up like piranhas. Never caught any over 14" but he had a blast and I got fin stuck a lot but it was worth it for my boy. No idea if is is still like that though.

I love catching bullheads. I grew up doing it and still enjoy it today. They are hard fighters and often easy to catch if you find them. They used to be predominant in many lakes and ponds, but stocking channel catfish has reduced the bullhead population in many areas. We ate them all the time growing up, but we ate anything we caught or shot. Cut them really thin and fry them in cornmeal, flour, and your favorite steak seasoning. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/03/full-107020-176896-3ab893c7_fdc0_4e40_892f_45fcf100179c.jpeg)

Used to eat them all the time in South Dakota, ate the smaller ones, 6 inches long gutted and skinned deep fryed
call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

Lot of the park ponds I'd fish growing up were full of them. Seemed like you couldn't keep them off your line some days. Would never eat them personally though.
