So I want to share what we are doing in the creeks we are hitting! . With these cool nights the morning bite isn’t right up on the bank as we are catching them on brush tops and lay overs away from the bank from 8 to 3 foot!! Note - (look for any structure in middle of creek think outside the box ) They seem to lip it soft a week or so go , but lately hammering it !! We where catching a lot of males last weekend and the weekend before last , now mostly females !! I would say prob 2 to 3 more weeks of good shallow bite fishing !! Im using marabu feather jigs and the color doesn’t seem to really matter right now holding it very steal and agitating them till they bite on the structure !! Sticking and moving 3 or 4 here and there move on working same area I catch in back and forth. !! As it warms up on these cool mornings and especially my even trips it’s been hammer time in the same area right on the banks!! If you put it on her bed hold it steal twitch it she’s smacking it !! If you miss her don’t give up put it back in that same spot 9 times out of 10 she will hit it again as they want you off their beds !! I had several hits 2 and 3 times stuck it in there 1 foot of water and bam !! If you ain’t catching in one foot back off a little to 2 foot put in the work in they are there !!! Stick and move move and stick !! All fish im catching is vertical jigging no minnows !! It’s hammer time go get em !!!



PS : don’t leave fish to find fish and if you find them in a certain area of a creek or spawning area work that area over !! Good luck !!!

They are still in the creeks but again with this crazy weather we had to work for them!! Fished from daylight till noon today and caught 36 between the 3 of us. Get a few here and there and most fish was on tree tops in 4 to 8 foot. !!
All fish was caught on jigs. !!

The shallow bite is still happening here...

Finally caught some white females shallow today ready to spawn... I guess there is something to the saying that the black crappie spawn first....

Back in early March, I was able to get into the crappie every day in a creek on the North end of Lake Grapevine (Whites branch). This lasted a couple weeks, then one day, it just turned off. Interestingly enough, about the same time I stopped catching crappie in that creek, I saw a lot of bluegill showing up...

I'm usually to busy trying to ketchum...but it is interesting to see what they spawn on.

So, what does TFF think? I caught her today under a boathouse in deep water. She weighed a tad over a pound and the eggs were solid not soft. Will she spawn or has she already dumped a few?

Fire up the pot.

They are still in the creeks as we had to really work for them and a lot was not caught right on the banks. Once again on structure in the creeks. I ‘am starting to see a small transition on timber and brush as you can see in my picture from the live scope. It won’t be long !!
