Heading to Lewisville in the morning with my dad, it's been a long time since either of us have gone for crappie on LL other than fishing boat slips at Eagle Point when we had access. Do not have many brush piles mapped but will be on the boat, any advice on general area or what is best to throw at them/depth recently? Will be putting in on the south side of the lake and pretty flexible on where to head. Any advice is appreciated, should be a great day on the water if you are in North TX.

250 Views no replies. After the lack of response we tried crappie for a bit, but was too tempting to see if the bass were on. [Linked Image]

I have never fished at LL, so I have no advice. I do have a thumb for that awesome LMB. Congrats.

I've fished a lot up near the NE end of the lake since I used to live in Little Elm. If you can get back up in some of the rivers/creeks you can almost always get on something if the water's warm, though I am still a noob at targeting Crappie specifically. I will say that there is a lot of standing timber near some of the flats in the NE part of the lake. That may be a good place to look.

Thank you sir! ^^^ We do alright with bass but have never had much luck chasing crappie by boat, will keep after it though they sure are fun to get in to.

I haven't been there much but I would look around west of pier 121 or N of little Elm this time of year!

Try the cut-through. There are a lot of brush piles tied to the bottom at the mouth of the cut through. Minnows are your best bet

I have found them on standing timber in way up by Pilot Knoll at times. Not much of a crappie angler though.

Now that bass is awesome! Props. Was she up really shallow?

Lewisville is not the best lake these days for crappie it seems. I feel the populations are down there. With that being said, the natural cover in the lake tends to hold the most amount of fish for me. Tons of submerged timber in the lake

I agree. Even in the "known good spots", it's hit or miss. They're extremely picky eaters at LL.

I grew up in Little Elm back in the 70's and was an avid crappie fisherman for years. The crappie fishing has diminished it seems, but the Little Elm area was always the best for me. Around the old bridge and a few of the sloughs were awesome. Fishing around the docks at DCYC in the old lake was very good as well. Living in Montana now and fishing the Jewel Basin lakes near Glacier National Park has been a real learning curve. No live bait is allowed, so it's all jigs and trolling. Salmon fishing has been my thing lately, however I have heard that the crappie are in Peterson Lake about 10 minutes from my house. I'm about to go find out!

That's awesome, I'd love to go up North and catch some salmon if I ever get the chance. Did you end up getting into any crappie up there?

We have been so busy up here completing the construction of our home and land improvements that we haven't had much time to start in on the crappie. My wife and I both are crappie/perch fishing fools, so we have finally identified a few local lakes that have crappie. This May we are coming back to Texas for a couple of weeks and will be back in Montana in June, so we plan to look for the crappie and ease up on the salmon fishing. Just bought a Boston Whaler to help us navigate through the Jewel Basin Lake chain. It's heaven up here and it will be even better if we can find the crappie. Not many people up here fish for them, even better for us! This was a day we spent salmon fishing on Echo Lake last year.

What a view! Sounds like y'all have a nice setup. I'll bet you have some nice creeks up there for trout fishing too.
