I gotta say, I ran into Swindle on Amistad and he left me with less than a positive impression. He may have had a bad day or something going on but it was not anything like he portrays on TV.
I met Edwin Evers at a gas station down there, and he was a really nice guy.
I'd like to share a beer with Ray Scott if I could. I believe he was the real deal. Swindle probably carrying a little bit of a chip he never won on the national stage in 10 years.

Roland Martin story....back in late 70's I lived in Greenville,Ms....I had taken a new job in another state midway though the club fishing year and had gone through a divorce so it was a tumultuous time in my life... but I continued to go back to Greenville to fish the monthly club tournaments because i was leading the points race when I moved...this club had 50-60 members and it was a big deal(at least to me) to win the points championship...
last tournament of the year and I won it and the club championship and I was proud of that but it was kind of an empty feeling because I really had nobody to share it with.... I was dating a lady and that night we went across the river to a small chinese restaurant in lake village,Ark... Roland Martin and another guy (Harold England) happened to come in and sat down at table beside us...it was really small place and we were almost sitting side by side....I recognized him and introduced myself and asked if he was fishing in the area...turns out he and Harold were turkey hunting someplace around there while their wives were competing in a Bass N Gal tourny on Ouachita river near Monroe,La...
we talked awhile and he asked if i was a fisherman and I told him I had just won a tourny today and club points championship for the year...he congratulated me on the win and wanted to know all about where and how I'd caught the fish and how I fished the oxbow lakes along the river and we talked fishing for probably an hour...keep in mind Roland had just won several angler of the year titles in a row yet his congratulations and interest in my fishing seemed genuine....and when I left that restaurant that night,my "empty feeling" had got a lot better...

MERCY - not receiving what you deserve GRACE - receiving what you don't deserve "It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness." America's MESS / is being repaired by God's miracle fixes I'd rather walk with God with no questions answered than to walk thru life without Him and know the answers

Fantastic angler there. I talked to him during a tournament at Fork and he was done for the day and was at Popes Landing. He was talking about tuning crank baits and I gave him a tuning tool made by Bass Pro shop that he didn't know about and in exchange he gave me some creature baits that are no longer made. I really enjoyed hanging out with him and the other pros that were at Popes.

The thing to ask yourself is, would any of them really want to have a beer with you? Seth invited me to go to dinner with them at the Mexican Restaurant in Emory and all of us including their wives had several beers at dinner. Great memories.

When Denny fished the Bud Light trail he would hang around and drink a few with everyone. Was extremely friendly. Had a room on side of him and would chat with him every morning when he would bring his golden retrievers outside to do their business.
Being from Louisiana, Hackney is my favorite angler on tour.
Hanging out with G-Man could never be boring.
Evers just seems like he is about as solid as they come as far as character.
Lee Livesay, Todd Faircloth, Seth Feider, Andy Montgomery, Ott Defoe, Matt Robertson, John Cox, Brandon Palaniuk in no particular order would be cool to hang out with as well.
Jimmy Houston would without a doubt be #1 on my list, although we'd probably be having a glass of ice tea or a cup of coffee. I got to spend a day in the back of the boat with Jimmy. A dock cable got caught between the jackplate and motor- ole Jimmy stripped down to his underwear and got out in that 50 degree water to get it fixed…😅

Mines is Hackney, seems like my kinda redneck! When I rode with Hackney he was complaining about some seltzer not being able to be brought near Fork. It think it was a Michelob. I tried it later when one of the guys at our company saltwater tournament had it. Don’t see what he saw it in. Hack likes whiskey but sounds like whiskey drinking is best kept away from tournament days. Great guy to ride with. We talked quite a bid about saltwater fishing in Venice. He is pretty entertaining. Pretty funny. He talked about having a issue with another angler. He said “well, you know how that went.” Had a camera guy all day so that usually adds some conversation.
