I thought it might be fun to post some pics of a few weird odds and ends I own that I aquired over the years. Like the weird fish cleaning knife someone gave my Grand-paw many years ago. Or the Samari fish knife!

Also a group of lures From a deceased neighbor ( came from up north - probably very popular there...but look to me like they are designed to scare fish away.)

Some of yall might even use them...I dunno?

How about this reel oil, is it still made?

Bobbers?

Any body else?

The 4th picture you have posted are flashers. They look like the are pretty old though. The newer ones are used for trolling or downrigging and have 3-5 blades on them. When I fished in CA, we used these. The blades turn like a spinner bait blade and are supposed to look like a small school of fish. I brought a couple back from CA, to see if they would work for the sandies, but have never tried them.

Do you use them as is? Or use the hooks for any other kind of bait/lure?

Actually, the ones that I have don't have a hook on the end of them. We just tied about an 8-12 inch leader on the bottom from our bait to the flashers.

the jitterbug and the mepps spinners would work for sure....i have a bunch of that stuff all in tackle boxes.....

biggest thing i found is an old ted williams spinning reel from Sears.....green and huge...

I have a knife like that, wooden handle where you can slide another piece of wood off and there is the knife...

The biggest fishing oddity I've collected is the one I see when I'm shaving in the mornings...

Those "big" lures look like they were definitely from up north in the Musky / Northern Pike areas. I've used the oversized pet spoon in Canada and it is GREAT on the Northerns, and there is only one big hook to try to get out of their toothy mouths, which is nice.

Shcausey called those things on the 4th picture down "flashers". They look like walleye worm harnesses to me. Maybe they are called flashers somewhere too. We called 'em Little Joe's. We use 'em to back troll for walleye in 8 to 14 feet of water.

Take those lures up to Canada with you if you ever go! Pike will hit your bass lures too, but they won't last very long. Trust me, I've tried!

Trey

Actually Steve, that isn't a Jitterbug, It is called a "Skipper". Note the oversized front spoons, and the holes bored in them.
