HOLY SH**!!!! If they'd bring those here to America, I'd probably break out my bass tackle again. Between that size Barra, GT's & Dogtooth, I have got to get there someday! Hey Blinky, what part of The country are fish that size caught? As far as proximity to GT country in the NE? Sure is cool to have INTERNATIONAL Tff'ers tight lines -Brian

Hey Blinky, what part of The country are fish that size caught? As far as proximity to GT country in the NE? Sure is cool to have INTERNATIONAL Tff'ers tight lines -Brian Hi Brian, Barramundi are common across the top of Australia, the best fishing being in the Top End area of the Northern Territory, a pretty remote part of the country. I have world class Barra fishing within an hours drive from home! The size of the fish in the first two photos are quite common, around 90 95 cm, the last two are a different kettle of fish, so to speak,, it came in at about 145 cm in length and 30 35 kg.it would be a Barra of a lifetime! The Holy Grail for Barra is a fish over the metre mark, you get a lot between 90 & 100 cm but sheesh that next few cm is hard to get, in over 25 years of specializing in Barra fishing I have only caught 3 over a metre.

wel we all know he did not catch them in texas lol. those fish are great fighters. Nile Perch Close but no cigar.the Barramundi is actually a closely related cousin of the Nile Perch. There was a push to introduce them into Queensland a few years ago, it was thought that because Nile Perch will breed in freshwater they would have been perfect to stock into the dams and lakes (Barra need to migrate to salt water to breed). Thankfully the powers that be knocked it on the head when it was decided that it would have been an environmental disaster. Some well wishing dam owners stocked their waters with the imported and noxious pest, Tilapia, as a ready-made food source for the Nile Perch. The Tilapia bred like rabbits and took a firm hold, pushing native food fish out. There is still a push on to this day to rid Queensland of Tilapia, if you catch one it is illegal to return it to the water! Introduced Nile Perch would have killed off a huge amount of native fish, frogs etc, including any juvenile Barra there happened across!
