he made a valid point... regional banks can't really compete with the mega banks so they have to take more risk... if fed is going to bail them out if they fail, might as well shoot for the moon.

I feel like we are halfway there already. Chase, Bank Of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo and US Bank. Those are the major players. The rest are small potatoes in comparison. PNC might belong in there too... but those 5 are the dominant ones.

I did not hear wrong. I was listening to FOX news on Sirius around 7:30 in the morning on I believe Thursday maybe Wednesday. He apologized for saying that it would offend many people several times. If he's changed his tune its because of the backlash he has surely gotten.
