I was night fishing from the bank on lavon once when an alligator walked down the shore line right to me. I almost deployed my brown ink defense before I got my flashlight up to reveal a large otter.

Most lakes south of DFW have at least one or two resident gators.

Look for turtles on the logs .....no turtles,it would be best not to wade fish the lake.

We used to live in Highland Village (Lake Lewisville). Big blow up 20 years or so ago when a couple of gators were seen there. Folks wanted TPWD to remove them. Answer was “No, they’re native”. If Lewisville why not Lavon?

Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

I can tell you for certain that lavon, hubbard, and many more area lakes have gators, and maybe more than you think, especially in the creek bottoms and upper ends of the lakes. The further east you go the more you’ll see. Pines and caddo are covered up in them.

Here's one some kids found in Rowlett Creek at Hwy 75 in Plano. I think they are everywhere in the DFW metro lakes. Texoma might be too salty for them.
