I was talking to my pops yesterday and he told me that in the mid 90's TPWD stocked Peacock Bass in Lewisville, anyone else hear about this?
He told be they did not survive long enough to spawn and died out in a few years. I looked at the stocking reports and did not see anything.

Never heard of that. I fished the Lew all through the 90s and never saw one. They don't do well under 55 degrees if I understand correctly.

Nope, never heard that. If they were going to stock them. It would be in a small power plant lake

Maybe got the name Peacock Bass mixed up with Palmetto Bass (another name for Hybrids) ? who_knows

They did stock them in some lakes a long time ago

I would agree with this post. Great conclusion. they are thinking Palmetto Bass. There is no way peacock bass would have been stocked in a North Texas lake. Way too cold here. They really don't like temps in the mid 60's and would not survive in temps in the 50's much less the 40's. NO WAY.

Ya that was my thought why would they do that, no way they would make it. Also what was up with TPWD stocking Walleye in 75 and 76 I was seeing that most lakes were stocked but never restocked, i assume they did not survive as i have never seen one in Lewisville or Grapevine.

Some great white sharks would help the lake.

TPWD stocked peacock bass in the 1970s and 1980s in the following lakes. I am not aware of any peacock bass stockings in Lake Lewisville.

1978 and 1979 - Bastrop Lake
1980 - Colleto Creek
1982 - Tradinghouse Creek

I am not sure how long they survived, but from historical records it appears it was not very long.

The did stock Walleye in Conroe just after they filled it. That bombed. I did catch a good one several years after the stocking. It was later 1970’s. Only one I ever saw.

I caught a walleye at the Grapevine fishing barge back in the late 70's. I got my picture taken and they put it up on their board. I know a Tornado took out the barge at some point.
