Forget the cows and watch the turtles.. if they are all on the logs it’s going to be tough fishing… better throw an anchor and slow down. roflmao

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

....and true.

Every living thing on the planet is impacted by moon phase. Timing and consequence of those impacts are not exact. If you need proof find any local elementary school teacher, principal, counselor et al and ask. When I was in college I worked in Huntsville for the department of corrections. Corrections officers who work the 11-7 shift never have to worry about getting drowsy the 3 days before and after a full moon phase but it is marked on every shift calendar.

My rule of thumb. When I see all 4 of these. First wave of spawners move up.
Water temp around 60
Wild plum trees white blossoms
Full moon.
Stable water levels
The other day it all happened. Walked outside the other night and seen the full moon.
Boom!
When the earth, moon, and sun are in line with each other.(full and new moon)
The tides and gravitational pull are the greatest.
Hard for me to believe it does not have an effect on wide life-nature, when it can move oceans.
Seen it happen around the full moon in Feb,march, and April.
I remember a spring years ago on fork. Cold fronts and heavy rains non stop every week. It was like the spawn never happened.

Always heard it has something to do with the length of daylight. Also 3 days before and after a full moon.

On my checklist of spawning variables, it's at the bottom. For almost a decade we spent the better part of the spring, nearly everyday, observing conditions starting at about 55-57 degrees in early February throughout the spawn. Not once did the moon affect what I saw. It was more dictated by warming trends. It would take fish about 3 days to pull up under ideal conditions. From zero fish day 1 to full spawn by day 3. Typically it was a rollercoaster of activity until temps were more sustained above 60. But ...saw a ton of fish spawn in 57-59 without it ever being 60 consistently. Biggest factor I noticed was that the more healthy a lake/big population of quality fish it had, the longer the spawn occured. It would start earlier and last longer. Kurth lake in it's prime and Toledo bend in 2015. February through May full spawn the entire time.

The Moon is everything. I spend the entire spring site fishing and can tell you from over 10 yrs experience the moon brings up not only the biggest waves but also the biggest fish. Even in Feb Giants are caught during a full moon phase.

one of the full moon phases this year is literally called the Sturgeon Moon, but nah it doesn't effect fishing at all LOL

Length of days increasing
Water temp
Moon phase

Line those up and they are coming. Stable water helps as well

When the other conditions line up the full or new moon can be the trigger that sends em all to the banks… dropping water, barometric pressure, storms, ect… can all trump the the moon phase though. IMO it has a greater affect on big fish, but I’m no biologist.
Its not like they wait on it to spawn, fish on TBend have been spawning for more than a week in advance of the March full moon.

Full moon typically worst fishing of the month for me. It's been textbook like that for years and years

Pay attention to all of Solunar tables for feeding periods all year long. And, yes Full Moons cause a bigger wave to move up and the New Moon has a movement too.

Moon phase is just one one of the pieces to the puzzle... Dan
