Whoever it was years ago that lobbied for the standard 14" MLL on that lake has done far more damage to the population and size of fish than any one tournament could ever do...
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I agree with Barrett. There were a few minor issues that I am sure they will iron out but overall much more good than bad. The payback was exceptional. No BS having to register on site the night before the tournament. Excellent communication from the tournament via text and email. No membership fees. Yea I forgot to add the fact we didn't have to go drive up there to register. That was nice as could be.

That had to be the most "train wreck" of a weigh-in I've ever seen, computer glitches, dead batteries in microphones.
This happened numerous times: when a guy wanted to weigh a big fish, they would put it in a bag by itself with the other fish to be weighed in going into a separate bag. Both bags went onto the scales for heavy stringer. That's two bags on scales zeroed out with one bag. I don't know how much one bag weighs, but you can see the difference between first and second was six one hundredths of a pound, the difference between second and third was six one hundredths of a pound. It could have made a difference somewhere down the line.
My biggest complaint was the handling of the fish. The guy measuring fish kept dropping them on the ground, then his entire measuring station fell apart. Photos were taken on the stage. Then more photos behind the stage. Fish finally got back into a bag full of water to be carried to the lake by the fishermen. There was a rock rip-rap, so the fish were being tossed with a lot of them landing on rocks to lay flopping. Needless to say, there were dead fish after the weigh-in.
I didn't fish the tournament, but before anyone says I didn't have a dog in the hunt, I was a founder and past president of the Lake Ray Roberts (not raybob) Sportsmens Association. We worked hard to make Roberts a better fishery. We even went so far as to build a live tank to be made available to any organization conducting a tournament on Roberts to keep from happening what happened this past weekend. They did weigh two bags. After day 1 anybody that had a big fish got a personal phone call and apology for the tournament director stating that our total bag would be deducted .46 pounds and it was 3rd, 4th and I think 6th and 7th. Thats just growing pains. The guy knows how to play baseball not MC a tournament and it didn't happen on day 2. They let boats out in record time which was refreshing compared to some other large tournaments.... maybe took 10 minutes to let 70 boats go. The weigh in seemed fine to me and I never saw any dead fish. The water next to the rocks gets deep fast. If your fish flopped back up on the rocks you saw it happen and it wasn't hard with the lake being up to not "land on the rocks flopping." They had holding tanks for the extremely short weigh in line with oxygen tubes for your bag. I thought it was run great minus a few hiccups. Hiccups are okay for a club tournament, not for one that claims to bring "professionalism" to team tournament fishing. Did they deduct weight from Matsubu's big bass, because they used only one bag on him? I watched the weigh-in. I saw what happened. I watched fishermen standing on dry ground throwing fish at the water bouncing them off rocks. A live tank was needed with personnel knowledgeable in working on stressed fish. Zeb has my phone number. You need to talk to me, Barrett. Or as they announced your name at the scales, Garrett.

TC already posted an as usual much too long YT vid asking why more guys aren't fishing this series, but didn't mention any of the weigh in/release problems.. or maybe he did, I tend to zone on on some of his longer rants. I love the guy, but his stuff is hard to watch sometimes.

A tournament comes around and pays out 143% of entry fees taken, and there are still complainers. Yup, I've seen it all now.

The Brandon show clearly isn’t big time yet from what I’m hearing. With a lot of time and Perseverance They will eventually learn from the masters of tournament fishing.
Soon they will be so successful they will secretly weight the fish behind the dirty hot port-a-cans like bass did at the classic at that lake a few years back, I may or may not have heard after they weighed the fish they just slid them down the concrete ramp back into the water.
If they get to that level of professionalism… Then they legit. Should get up to a hundred payers anyway

Always some random on the sidelines complaining Talk about calling the kettle black. It's hard to miss your photo...uh, I mean posts. The complaint is about fish care. I'm sure you would call yourself a conservationist.
